Modell260715 The thread lift procedure uses a barbed suture to grasp the tissues and elevate them. Since tissues are not being separated from each other and there is much less lifting of skin, postoperative swelling and bruising are markedly reduced. So this new procedure falling into aesthetic surgery category, often called bloodless, scarless or "weekend facelift".

As the aging process begins, your tissue thins because the collagen and elastin fibers break down. The resulting changes are seen as sagging, deep creases, fold and wrinkles that usually begin to appear in your thirties. Thread lift can't stop this aging process. What it can do is "set back the clock".

In general, the best candidates for a thread lift include both women and men in their forties to their sixties who want more dramatic and long lasting effect than fillers and botulinum toxin or other treatments can provide, but do not want a full face lift, brow lift or neck lift procedure.

This technique allows the physician to produce a relaxed, refreshed apperarance while preserving and enhancing the natural contours of your face. Thread lift does not replace a conventional face lift, rather it offers patients an innovative, minimally invasive approach to achieving face lift-like results.

The concept of elevating facial tissue by selfanchoring sutures emerged in the 1990s. Using thread lift technique your doctor will make tiny punctures in skin and the threads are advanced along the previously marked contours toward the brow, chin and/or jaw line with a needle so they create a firm hold on the deep tissues without causing additional trauma. The needle is removed and the cogs do the work of holding the tissues as they are softly smoothed into place. Once in position, your body generates new collagen bundles that encapsulate each thread to help maintain the natural lifting effect.

A typical procedure usually takes about 60-90 minutes and is done using local anaesthetic. In most cases, there is minimal discomfort, some bruising and swelling. Patients can usually return to work or normal activities within 5-7 days.

The results may last from two to three years.
